Half-Time Report: Manchester United 0-0 Manchester City

The first 45 minutes at Old Trafford ended in a stalemate as Manchester United demonstrated the knack to cause problems on the counter.

The Red Devils started on top and really got into their rivals’ faces with an aggressive display, but the visitors soon took control of the match.

Sterling came closest to opening the scoring with his shot from eight yards that lacked any real power to beat De Gea, while Bernardo Silva also had an attempt kept out by the Spanish keeper.

United’s only on-target attempt, meanwhile, came via the boot of Pogba 12 minutes. The Frenchman meeting his match in Ederson with that effort from 22 yards.

Despite his side being second best for the final 15 minutes or so of the first half, Solskjaer will be happy enough at the interval.

If nothing else, United have kept the game tight and they have had a couple of opportunities to hit their opponents on the counter.

The onus, you feel, is on City – who have Sane, Mahrez and Jesus among their subs – to find a way through in the second period.
