Arguably Madrid’s best 45 of the season just when they needed it the most, without their captain and his centre-back partner.

The first goal came after a fantastic pass from Kroos to Vinícius Júnior, before another Kroos pass led to the second for Asensio, albeit with the assist coming from Alexander-Arnold.

Liverpool have not had a shot on goal, let alone one on target, and have work to do after the interval.
