Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi wants to see defender Levi Colwill remain on the south coast next season, but admits that parent club Chelsea are in control of his future.

The English centre-back, 20, has been a regular starter of late after spending the season on loan at Brighton.

“I hope he can play with us next year, but it’s the decision of Chelsea,” De Zerbi admitted. “He’s a top player for us.”

On goalkeeper Robert Sanchez’s future after being dropped to the bench, the Italian manager added: “I can’t do anything. If he wants (to stay for next season), for sure, but I decide the first XI.”
