Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has revealed there was substance to the reports linking him with Arsenal in the summer.

The 28-year-old, who joined Chelsea from Napoli alongside Maurizio Sarri in 2018, was strongly tipped to make a dramatic deadline day switch to the Blues’ London rivals.

In the end, Mikel Arteta’s Gunners ended up bolstering their midfield with Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid instead.

“I believe that every player is open to negotiations,” the Italy international told ESPN Brazil.

“So I believe there was something they talked about. And in the end it was decided that I remain here.

“Now my head is here and we’re going to do a great job with Chelsea, which I always wanted to do.”
