Jorginho reveals how he combines Brazil, Italy in his game, thanks manager for “showing great faith in me”

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho reveals how he combines the Italian and Brazilian elements of his character, thanking Roberto Mancini for “showing great faith in me.”

It has been a remarkable week for the midfielder, who lifted the Champions League trophy with Chelsea and now prepares for Euro 2020.

“Each of us will bring so much energy and enthusiasm into the tournament,” he told RAI Sport as cited by Football Italia.

“It’s not just about what I achieved with my club, but this is also my first major competition with Italy and I really want to do well.

“Italy suffered so much during the pandemic and I think this sport can bring some joy back to the people. We hope to give that to our fans this summer.

“At moments like the Champions League Final, I close my eyes and think back to everything I went through to follow my dream and reach this point.”

The Azzurri are in Group A with Turkey, Switzerland and Wales, kicking off on June 11 at the Stadio Olimpico.

“Mancini was so important in my career, as he showed great faith in me. We deserve to be where we are now, but must also keep our feet on the ground, because there’s so much more to be done.”

Jorginho was born in Brazil, but moved to Italy for the Hellas Verona youth academy.

“I feel that I’ve got the Brazilian technique with the ball, but the Italian mentality to always train hard and win.”
