Juventus suffer transfer blow as Zidane rubbishes summer move for Real Madrid star

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has rubbished reports that Raphael Varane would sold this summer.

The gaffer insists he has no plans to sell the defender as reported by Football-Espana.net on Tuesday.

According to the report, Varane was ‘edging closer’ to Juve, amidst speculation the defender wanted out of Madrid, who in turn were said to be targeting Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly as a replacement.

Calciomercato have said the Les Bleus international is the ‘number one priority’ of Juve sporting director Fabio Paratici this summer, while fresh reports in Spain have also cast doubt upon his future.

On La Sexta’s El Chiringuito TV in Spain, Jose Luis Sanchez reported on Monday that Madrid had been informed of Varane’s decision that he wanted to leave this summer.

However, Zidane said at a Press conference: “I don’t want to imagine a Madrid without Varane.

“He’s still young, he’s been here for many years, he’s doing well. There are many things that have gone out saying he’s annoyed, but it’s part of the lives of the players.

“I see him in a good way. He hasn’t told me anything. The important thing is what he tells me, that he’s at the best club in the world,

“He knows it, he’s won a lot and I see him in a good way. My desire is to keep him at the club.”
