Manchester United star sends message to fans after undergoing surgery

Manchester United summer signing Leny Yoro has sent fans a message after undergoing surgery on a metatarsal injury that will keep him out for three months.

Erik ten Hag’s worst fears over his new £52million centre-half were confirmed following the op, which took place after the club’s return from their US tour.

Yoro, 18, suffered the damage in only his second appearance for his new club – a 2-1 friendly defeat to Arsenal in Los Angeles.

That surgery on Yoro’s left foot took place on Monday and United said in a statement that it had been a success, but also that it would take the defender three months before he returned to fitness.

Yoro later issued a statement of his own via social media.

He wrote: “This is not the start I wanted, but that’s football… The operation went well. Thank you for your many messages of support.

“Now, time for patience and rehabilitation work. See you soon, stronger”.

Alongside this message, Yoro posted a photo of himself giving a thumbs up gesture from a hotel bed.

He also shared an image featuring a quote from the Bible, which read: “Jesus replied, You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.”
