It was a battle of two of the Nation’s continental representatives in next season’s caf champions league, Remo Stars FC earning a slim 2-1 victory over NPFL champions Enyimba FC in the opener of the maiden edition of the Naija super 8 preseason championship yesterday, played at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena Onikan, Lagos State.

Remo Stars paraded some newly recruited faces against the 9 time league champions who on their own fielded a seemingly lethargic side, a contest that brought out the best from the ikenne based outfit, as goals from recently signed striker Isaac James and pacy left back Seun Ogunbiride in either side of halftime secured the much needed victory for the sky blue stars, with Chisom Okereke’s solitary strike only turning out to be a mere consolation for the elephants.

Remo Stars sits atop of the group A log on 3 points as early pace setters and seek to consolidate on their victory when they engage Katsina United on sunday, meanwhile Enyimba FC would be gunning for their first maximum points in the group on Sunday, 9th of july as they entertain NPFL new comers Sporting Lagos FC, both games are billed for 2pm and 4:30pm respectively.

Hostilities begins in group B today as championship wildcards Akwa United engage North Eastern Representatives Yobe Desert Stars by 2PM in the first match of the day.

The duel involving familiar foes Lobi Stars FC of Makurdi and next season’s Caf Confederation Cup Representatives, Rivers United FC of Port-Harcourt concludes Hostilities from group B today by 4:30PM.
