Newcastle join race for Chelsea hero, plan to build new team around him

Newcastle United are thought to be keen on a swoop for for Chelsea hero Eden Hazard, according to reports.

Spanish outlet El Chiringuito claim the club are eyeing the Belgium ace as a potential star of new look they hope to build.

The club, who face Chelsea next, are yet to win a game in the top-flight this term.

The 30-year-old has struggled at the Bernabeu since his big money move from Chelsea two years ago as his repeated injury issues have restricted him to just 51 times appearances in all competitions, scoring just five goals.

And after falling down the pecking order behind Rodrygo and the in-form Vinicius Junior, reports from El Nacional state that Real Madrid would be open to letting him leave the club.

While Carlo Ancelotti remains confident that Los Blancos will be able to help him recapture the form he showed so often at Stamford Bridge, people behind the scenes in Madrid would reportedly allow him to depart as they look to fund potential record-breaking moves for Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland.

Meanwhile, Magpies want Hazard to become one of the key players in their new project as the new owners get to work on rebuilding the club on and off the pitch.
