Premier League clubs suffer Victor Osimhen transfer blow

April 16th, 2023 by Olasunkanmi Ibikunle

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has shut the door of a potential move from his Serie A club, stating that he has no need to leave Napoli, despite interest from the Premier League, Bayern Munich and PSG.

The Nigeria international, who is top scorer in Serie A, said: “I am already at one of the biggest clubs and could not ask for more.”

Napoli are on the verge of securing the third Scudetto in their history after 1987 and 1990, sitting 14 points clear of Lazio.

They are also preparing for the Champions League quarter-final after a 1-0 first leg defeat to Milan.

“We are close to the objective and cannot wait to make our dream come true, to make it a reality,” Osimhen told TG5, via Football Italia.

“The players always believed, we always thought we could do something exceptional, even when nobody else believed we could. The affection from the city is extraordinary, I have never received so much love. I can’t wait to celebrate with them at the stadium.”

There has been endless speculation about Osimhen’s future, with clubs prepared to break the €100m mark with their offers, but Napoli and the striker seem to be in no rush to part company.

“It was tough for me to make my dream come true of becoming a professional football player and now we are about to win for the first time. I’m at a great club and my career is growing constantly.

“I am already at one of the biggest clubs and I could not ask for more. Forza Napoli always!”

Considering Osimhen is only 24 years old and has already made marked improvements from last season since working with coach Luciano Spalletti, the €100m rumours are not going to be enough to tempt a sale.

He has scored 25 goals in 30 competitive games so far this season and Napoli already paid €75m plus bonuses to sign him from LOSC in September 2020.
