Premier League legend heaps praise on Chelsea over three of their stars after Norwich win

Gary Lineker had his say on Chelsea’s homegrown talent and their transfer policy in the Blues’ thrashing of Norwich City on Saturday morning.

Thomas Tuchel’s men ran out 7-0 winners against bottom of the league Norwich, racing into a three goal lead in the first half courtesy of Mason Mount, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Reece James.

Mount completed his hat-trick with a simple tap-in after some great work by Ruben Loftus-Cheek in additional time.

All three first-half goal scorers came through Chelsea’s famous Cobham academy, a topic of conversation for ex-England striker and Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker.

Taking to Twitter, Lineker said: “For all the money @ChelseaFC have spent, some of their most exciting players are the home grown youngsters. 3 of them on the scoresheet in the first half. Great to see.”

The Blues’ academy has been well renowned for making great footballers, whether they play for the club or go on to play elsewhere in the football divisions.

Though there is often criticism surrounding the transfer policy and halting the pathway for the youth options, the goal scorers today proved there is a pathway to the first-team.
