REVEALED: Why Chelsea are ‘confident’ of pulling off Erling Haaland deal

Chelsea are said to be ‘confident’ of pulling off a big-money deal for Erling Haaland despite a slew of setbacks.

The Blues declared their intentions to land the Borussia Dortmund superstar early on despite expected competition from the likes of Manchester City, United and other big clubs across Europe.

But with Dortmund said to be demanding somewhere in the region of £150million for their eye-caching frontman ahead of his £68m release clause coming into play next summer, Chelsea may be one of the few clubs with a real chance.

The Blues have been clear that they need a top striker this summer and reports claim Roman Abramovich is willing to provide £150m for new signings this summer.

In a post-pandemic market, Chelsea are one of the few clubs with that spending ability, and that might be why they are said to be ‘confident’ of pulling off a deal this summer, or at least according to former Middlesbrough striker turned Norwegian media man Jan Aage Fjortoft, who has delivered some exciting news.

“Chelsea working intense (sic) to get Erling Haaland. He is seen as the ‘missing’ player to make them challenge for the PL title next season,” he wrote on Twitter.

“Fee very high, but confidence that this can be solved. The main obstacle could be the wage-structure at Chelsea.”
