Reports have emerged as to the reason Chelsea have been unable to sign Brighton star Moises Caicedo or even join Arsenal and Manchester City in the race to sign Declan Rice.

N’Golo Kante has joined Al-Ittihad, while his former midfield teammate Mateo Kovacic is on the verge of joining Manchester City, and the west London club have identified Caicedo and Rice as good replacements, but have so far not made serious moves to sign either of the midfield ace.

According to reports, Chelsea will try to avoid completing big transfers before the end of the month to avoid inflating this football year’s FFP book unless it’s ‘very necessary’ just like Jackson deal, which Villarreal need to balance their account before end of this football year on 30th June.

It’s also explains why Chelsea want to pay the clause installmentally. It’s certain they will find a solution before the end of the month.

A source close to the club said: “The only reason we even jumped into Ugarte’s deal is because of PSG’s move to sign him. Don’t expect Caicedo’s deal to be done this month.

“This month is more about sales, balancing the book, and beating FFP. Next month, when a fresh football year begins, signings will start happening.”
