Saudi takeover of Newcastle in £300million deal back on track, club fans celebrate new move

The Saudi takeover of Newcastle United is set to be approved after the Gulf state settled its piracy dispute with Premier League broadcast partner beIN Sports and gave assurances over who will control the club.

According to the Daily Mail, the lifting of a four-year ban of Qatar-based beIN Sports being shown in Saudi, as well as the removal of all forms of piracy in the country, will now pave the way for the £300million deal to be signed off imminently, ending Mike Ashley’s 14-year ownership.

The Sun reveals that the Saudis and Qataris have been locked in a brutal dispute for more than four years after Doha-based beIN Sports had its feed across the Middle East hijacked.

But there has been a major breakthrough after the Gulf state finally lifted its ban on neighbour Qatar’s beIN Sports and approval from the Premier League for the deal’s completion could come within the next 24 hours.

The Public Investment Fund, which is the Saudi’s sovereign wealth fund belonging to Mohammad bin Salman, is set to own 80 per cent of the club in the proposed deal.

The son of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, his family are said to be worth close to £1TRILLION.

That means bin Salman, 34, has an insatiable appetite for spending his cash.

The playboy has reportedly splashed hundreds of millions in the past on a fancy yacht, a French home and even some rare art as he lives a life of luxury.

It’s meant he’s also made friends in high places, including in the White House – where he met former President Donald Trump, who he’s called a friend.

Meanwhile, Newcastle United fans descended onto social media to celebrate the expected £300million Saudi takeover of the club following the Gulf state’s crucial settlement over piracy issues.

Fans, who have come to adopt #cans for whenever there is good news for supporters, were quick to celebrate what has been viewed as a major step towards an ownership change.

“Bring back the entertainers. Bring back European nights. BRING BACK MY NEWCASTLE UNITED. #nufc #nufctakeover,” one excited fan wrote.

“WE’VE DONE IT!!! WE’VE F***ING DONE IT!!!” another exclaimed, followed by a series of money bag emojis to reflect the incoming cash injection the proposed owners are expected to provide.

One supporter likened the revival of the takeover like the ‘love of your life’ coming back.

The fan wrote: “I’m ready for it all. This takeover feels like the love of your life keep walking out, and coming back promising to change. Yessssssss.”
