Super Eagles star Simy Nwankwo named as best striker in Europe in March, beats Haaland, Lewandoski, others

Crotone’s Nwankwo Simy is the best striker in Europe in the last month with eight goals in five games.

According to Football Italia, the Nigerian striker has scored eight of Crotone’s 12 goals from March 3 to April 3, but the newly-promoted Serie A side only managed to win one game in that time.

Simy has already netted 11 goals since the beginning of 2021, the same as Atalanta striker Luis Muriel. Only Cristiano Ronaldo has more goals in Serie A since the start of the year with 12.

The Crotone forward also became the third African player in the Serie A’s history to find the net in five games in a row after George Weah in 1996 and Keita Balde in 2017.

No other striker has scored more goals than the 28-year-old in the last month.

Lorenzo Insigne, Dusan Vlahovic, Erling Haaland, Leo Messi, Luis Muriel and Rafa Mir scored four league goals.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Gerard Moreno, Kelechi Iheanacho have five, Karim Benzema managed six and Robert Lewandowski seven.
