(Watch Video) Christian Pulisic scores on Serie A debut, sets up another goal for Olivier Giroud

August 21st, 2023 by Olasunkanmi Ibikunle

USMNT star Christian Pulisic enjoyed the ideal Serie A debut, as after helping to set up the Milan opener, he scored a ferocious second.

The former Chelsea striker made the transfer to Italy for €20m plus up to €2m in bonuses and was in the starting XI for the opening Serie A game of the season away to Bologna.

He made an immediate impact, his cross-field pass knocked back from the by-line by Tijjani Reijnders for Olivier Giroud to turn in.

At the 21st minute, Pulisic broke his Serie A duck with a ferocious right-foot strike after combining with Giroud.

Tomori warns ex-Chelsea teammate Pulisic after AC Milan reunion, reveals difference between Premier League and Serie A

July 27th, 2023 by Olasunkanmi Ibikunle

Fikayo Tomori warns Christian Pulisic that Serie A can be more difficult than the Premier League and names Milan‘s new leaders, including Rafael Leao.

The English centre-back spoke at a press conference from Los Angeles on the eve of a friendly encounter with Juventus.

Tomori has reunited with his ex-Chelsea teammate Pulisic this summer as the American midfielder completed a permanent transfer from Chelsea earlier this month.

“We’ve known each other since Chelsea and we’ve talked a lot,” said Tomori, as quoted by Sky Sport Italia.

“I’ve told him that Serie A is really difficult. Tactically and in terms of details, it is more difficult [than the Premier League]. He is feeling well with the team and hopefully, we can have a great season together.”

Pulisic is one of the many new signings made by Milan this summer. They have already welcomed seven new faces, including Samuel Chukwueze.

“We feel on the pitch that we have a strong team. We want to win again because we didn’t do what we wanted last season,” said Tomori.

“Now, also thanks to new players, we are strong and keep improving.

“We are Milan and we want to win. We didn’t do it last season but we want to do it this year,” he continued.

“We have new players and I think we can win. We are aware of our qualities.”

Rafael Leao is taking an even more central role after his contract extension and is seemingly becoming a leader of the Rossoneri.

“We have all improved a little and Rafa is becoming a man,” noted the ex-Chelsea centre-back.

“Of course, we listen to him when he speaks and I am happy we can see his maturity, I hope he can bring this mentality on the pitch.

“I like to communicate on and off the pitch. There were many experienced players when I arrived here and they helped me, now I want to do the same thing with new players. I like this role, I enjoy helping the new players settle in. I want to do my best to help the team. There are players such as Calabria and Theo. Oli [Giroud] also speaks a lot, Mike [Maignan] is a professional and is always focused on games.”

Chelsea receive boost with Pulisic plans

July 4th, 2023 by Olasunkanmi Ibikunle

Chelsea have received a timely boost in their plans to offload Christian Pulisic as Lyon have joined the race to sign the USA international.

AC Milan were thought to be favourites to sign the 24-year-old after agreeing personal terms with the American.

But Lyon have entered the running with a £21.5m bid for the ex-Borussia Dortmund attacker, according to The Athletic.

Meanwhile, latest reports claim that Pulisic has TURNED DOWN an opportunity to join Lyon this summer, preferring instead a move to AC Milan.

According to ESPN, “Pulisic does not see Lyon as the right move, instead wanting to remain playing Champions League football, which Milan can offer.”

It still represents a massive hit on the £58m fee they paid to sign him four years ago. But Pulisic has only 11 months left to run on his deal and Chelsea are keen to cash in.

AC Milan make offer for Chelsea star Christian Pulisic

July 2nd, 2023 by Olasunkanmi Ibikunle

AC Milan have reportedly made an offer to Chelsea for Christian Pulisic of £12m plus bonuses.

The fee plus Pulisic’s salary of around £12.8m would mean the transaction would save Chelsea an initial £24.8m. However, Chelsea are pushing for more.

Pulisic, who has one year left on contract, arrived from Borussia Dortmund for £58million in 2019 but has struggled to cement a regular first team place under four different first team coaches.

He has still managed to amass 145 appearances for the club and scored 26 goals as well as being part of the 2021 side that won the Champions League, World Club Championship and European Super Cup.

Still only 24, the USA international captain saw a proposed loan move to Manchester United fall through last August while Newcastle United also enquired.

Chelsea have raised £212million in players sales so far this summer and are looking to offload more over the coming days as they build funds to bid for Moises Caicedo of Brighton this week.

“I plan to go back”: Chelsea star set to return despite Stamford Bridge exit speculation

June 6th, 2023 by Olasunkanmi Ibikunle

Christian Pulisic plans to return to Chelsea despite speculation that his days at Stamford Bridge are over.

Pulisic became the most expensive American soccer player when he signed with the Premier League side in 2019 for £55m but a recent lack of playing time prompted frustration.

“As of right now, I’m a Chelsea player and I plan to go back, but a lot of things can happen. A lot of things can change,” said the 24-year-old, who has rejoined the US national team ahead of their CONCACAF Nations League title defence.

The lack of minutes on the pitch became a source of concern in the lead-up to last year’s World Cup, with the American eager to get game time to prepare for the tournament, where he helped the United States reach the last 16.

“It’s been an interesting journey at club level for me,” he told reporters. “I had a great couple of years and the last couple of years just haven’t gone at all how I planned them to be.”
