West Ham are reportedly ‘angry’ with Arsenal’s delay in officially signing Declan Rice.
A deal worth £105m has been agreed between all parties, with the midfielder also agreeing on personal terms with the club and conducting his medical.
However, The Sun report that the Gunners’ lawyers still have now signed off Rice’s contract, delaying the Hammers from receiving their funds.
West Ham are growing tired of the drawn out process and feel that the extended negotiations has cost them valuable time in the transfer market, with the new delay also preventing David Moyes from bolstering his ranks.
Reports in England claim that West Ham have not immediately accepted Arsenal’s £105m bid for Declan Rice.
Arsenal will have to negotiate the structure of their new record-breaking offer for Rice.
It’s thought West Ham United want the guaranteed fee paid up in a shorter time frame.
According to Sky Sports, the deal breaks down as a £100m initial fee, plus £5m in performance-related add-ons.
But the Daily Mail claim the Hammers want the guaranteed portion of the fee paid by the start of 2025, preferably in two instalments, with Arsenal wanting to pay the fee over a five-year period.
The Guardian goes further, describing West Ham as ‘unhappy’ with the payment structure proposed.
And then there’s the Man City factor and the anticipation of a bidding war erupting between Arsenal and the Premier League champions.
“West Ham have been holding out for £100m and are expecting City, who have had a £90m bid rejected, to come in with a new offer on Wednesday,” continues The Guardian. “One source suggested Arsenal may need to raise their offer to £110m to see off City.”
It is understood Arsenal will continue negotiations with the Irons today over the structure of the deal for Rice.
Declan Rice is ready to ask West Ham to accept Arsenal’s latest £105million offer, according to the Daily Mail.
With Manchester City unwilling to match the Gunners’ huge bid, Rice’s desire for his current club to reach an agreement with Arsenal – and the fact he is prepared to inform the Hammers of his wishes – arrives a significant development.
It means Arsenal are now in a very strong position to conclude the signing of their No 1 transfer target.
The report added that there is growing confidence at Arsenal that an agreement can be reached by the end of the day.
West Ham did not immediately accept Arsenal’s mega £105million formal offer that was made on Tuesday night.
The bid comprised of £100million in guaranteed cash plus an extra £5million in bonuses.
Well-placed sources have indicated that negotiations are continuing, mainly over the structure of the deal.
As Mail Sport revealed earlier this month, the Hammers want the guaranteed portion of the fee paid by the start of 2025, preferably in two instalments.
It is understood that Arsenal want to pay the fee over a five-year period.
And talks over reaching a middle ground with regards to the structure of the deal are continuing on Wednesday morning with Arsenal desperate to reach an agreement.
Their offer exceeds West Ham’s £100m valuation for the England star.
News of Arsenal’s mega bid comes after Manchester City’s first offer for the Hammers captain, which comprised of £80million in guaranteed cash and a further £10million in add-ons, was formally turned down by the Hammers on Tuesday.
The two clubs are now locked in talks as they look to strike a deal, which would see Rice become the most expensive British player of all time, surpassing the £100m Man City paid for Jack Grealish.
Manchester City have reportedly had their first bid for Declan Rice rejected by West Ham.
City stepped up their pursuit of the England midfielder on Monday with an offer of £80m plus another £10m in add-ons.
However, according to ESPN, West Ham are holding out for at least £100m in guaranteed payments.
Arsenal had a bid of £75m plus £15m in add-ons rejected last week. Manchester United have also shown an interest in Rice but there are doubts about whether they can get anywhere near West Ham’s valuation.
City have firmed up their interest in Rice following Ilkay Gundogan’s decision to join Barcelona on a free transfer.
The Premier League champions were keen for Gundogan to stay but were only willing to offer a one-year contract while Barca offered a two-year deal with the option of a third, and were also reluctant to meet the Germany international’s wage demand given he will turn 33 years old in October.
Reports have emerged in England indicating the reason Manchester City are delaying their move for West Ham Captain Declan Rice
The England international has attracted a lot of attention from Premier League top clubs like Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United this summer.
Arsenal have already seen two bids for Rice pushed back, with their latest offer worth £90m including add-ons.
And, according to reports, the Etihad giants want assurances from Declan Rice that he wants to join them.
That is before they launch a £100million offer to hijack the West Ham star’s move to Arsenal.
City are determined to land Rice, 24, after the departure of Ilkay Gundogan.
However, if Rice has no genuine interest in joining the Etihad outfit, City will withdraw their interest.
Meanwhile, according to the Mirror, West Ham are confident they will receive the £100m valuation for their skipper from one club or the other.
Rice has been gearing up for a move to the Emirates for months and is said to prefer a move there.
Indeed, Bayern Munich withdrew their interest in the England international after this revelation.
The report adds Arsenal’s financial department are working hard on how to restructure the deal in order to best appease the Hammers’ demands.
After their stunning Treble success and strong player sales, Man City are said to be armed with a £300million war chest.
Manchester City are reportedly preparing to make an opening bid for the West Ham captain following Ilkay Gundogan’s decision to not sign a new contract and join Barcelona on a free transfer.
The Gunners have made rice their priority target for the summer transfer window and they have so far seen two offers for Rice rejected by the Hammers.
The north London outfit had a first bid of £80million plus at least £10million in add-ons rejected last week for the England international before another offer, which remained under West Ham’s £100million asking price, was turned down on Tuesday.
Now, Premier League champions City have entered the race to sign the England international, with Pep Guardiola’s side preparing to make an offer.
The Champions Leage winners lost their long-serving captain Gundogan to Barcelona after the Germany international signed for Catalan giants on Wednesday to end his Etihad stint despite efforts by Pep Guardiola to keep him at the club.
Manchester City had offered the midfielder only a one-year extension while Barcelona handed him a two-year deal with an additional option of a further 12 months.
West Ham United have rejected an opening offer totalling £90 million from Arsenal for Declan Rice, according to ESPN.
The newly crowned Europa Conference League winners will reluctantly allow Rice to leave this summer after he turned down a new deal but value him in excess of £100m.
Arsenal lead the race for his signature, but their opening offer falls short of that valuation. ESPN’s report claims that the bid comprised an initial £80m plus a further £10m in add-ons.
Bayern Munich held an interest in Rice but have so far decided not to pursue a deal. However, West Ham expect Manchester City to enter the running with a formal bid.
Sources added that Arsenal are expected to return with an improved offer for the midfielder.
City are assessing their options and sources suggest that West ham would be interested in a player-plus-cash deal which would see Kalvin Phillips move to east London but no such proposal has yet been made.
Arsenal have identified Rice as their top midfield target and are keen on securing a deal swiftly so the 24-year-old can join their preseason tour to the United States.
