Chelsea progressing with deal

Chelsea are progressing in talks to land Villarreal goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen, according to Sky Sports.

And there is optimism at the club that a deal for the 22-year-old can be completed.

The west London club have reportedly made an opening offer of around €20 million (£16.8m) to Villarreal for goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen.

Fabrizio Romano claims that there has been talks with the player this week, and he is keen on the move.

The Blues see Jorgensen as a back-up to Robert Sanchez but want him to compete for a regular place between the sticks.
Meanwhile Djordje Petrovic, who usurped Sanchez as first-choice goalkeeper under Mauricio Pochettino, wants to stay at the club and fight for his place.

Chelsea have launched a £17million offer for Villarreal goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen, transfer reports say.

The Blues start the season with Robert Sanchez and Dorde Petrovic battling it out for the No1 spot.

But, despite early reports suggesting new Blues boss Enzo Maresca prefers Sanchez, the club are still looking for a new stopper.

Swede Jorgensen was the latest name to be linked with the West Londoners with talks ongoing with the keeper.

And according to Fabrizio Romano, a first bid has formally been sent to Villarreal for around £17m.

Sanchez was brought in by Mauricio Pochettino for Brighton in a deal worth £30m.

The Spaniard started the first half of the season before a loss of form and injury struggles saw Petrovic come into the side.

But Sanchez is believed to be in line for a chance to regain his spot with Maresca a fan of his ability to play out from the back.

Meanwhile, Jorgensen got a 99% short pass accuracy last season and made 143 saves (more saves than any other goalkeeper in La Liga).
