Chelsea, Arsenal fans fume amid reports Olivier Giroud is in transfer talks with Tottenham

Arsenal and Chelsea fans have expressed their anger over reports that Tottenham Hotspur have opened talks for Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud.

The Blues striker, whose current contract expires in the summer, is set to leave Stamford Bridge in search of regular game time ahead of the European Championships in the summer.

Giroud won the FA Cup in his first season at Chelsea, and played a significant role in the Blues’ Europa League triumph the following year under Maurizio Sarri.

However, the arrival of current boss Frank Lampard and the emergence of Tammy Abraham as the club’s first choice striker has seen the former Arsenal man slip down the pecking order.

Inter Milan have been closely linked with a move for the 33-year-old, with boss Antonio Conte thought to be keen on reunion with the forward, report football.london.

But according to Di Marzio, the Serie A side would prefer to sign the striker on a free transfer in the summer, which has alerted Spurs.

And the report claims Jose Mourinho have made an approach to sign Giroud before Friday’s deadline, as they step up their search for a striker.

Chelsea and Arsenal fans took to social media to react to the reports, with many less than pleased about the prospect of seeing the forward playing for fierce rivals Tottenham.

Chelsea fan arrested for racial abuse aimed at Tottenham star

There are reports in England that a Chelsea fan has been arrested for alleged racial abuse aimed at Spurs forward Son Heung-min.

Chelseaā€™s 2-0 win against Spurs was marred by accusations of racism, with Antonio Rudiger informing officials that he had heard monkey chants from the crowd in the second-half of the match.

Son was sent off midway through the second-half for violent conduct against Rudiger.

Tottenham said they would take the strongest possible action against anyone found guilty of racist abuse.

The Metropolitan Police said that it was aware of the allegations taking place during the Premier League fixture, report Daily Express.

The Police will now work with the two clubs to find the supporters responsible for the abuse.

A spokesman for the Met said: ā€œPolice were made aware of alleged racist chanting during the second half of the Tottenham vs Chelsea match on Sunday 22 December.

ā€œOfficers will work with the club in an attempt to identify any people responsible.ā€

No players were aware of the abuse aimed at Son during the match, itā€™s believed.

But, fellow Chelsea supporters reported the incident when they heard the apparent abuse within the away end.

Jose Mourinho wants reunion with former Manchester United utility player at Tottenham in January

Reports in Belgium and England claim that Jose Mourinho is attempting to sign Marouane Fellaini for Tottenham.

Mourinho managed Fellaini during their time together at Manchester United before Ole Gunnar Solskjaer decided to sell the midfielder earlier this year.

But Belgian newspaper La Derniere Heure now reports that Mourinho has made the signing of Fellaini his ā€˜priority objectiveā€™ at Spurs.

The report claims that Mourinho has even contacted Fellaini ahead of a potential move in the January transfer window.

Fellaini is currently playing for Shandong Luneng in the Chinese Super League and the 32-year-old has scored seven goals and provided four assists in 22 league appearances for the club.

Fellainiā€™s current contract with Shandong runs until December 2021 with an option of an additional year.

But the Chinese Super League season has now ended and Fellaini will not be in action until March.

The Metro report that during their time together at United, Mourinho was a huge advocate of Fellainiā€™s versatility and even described the Belgian as ā€˜fundamentalā€™ after a 2-0 win over Burnley last season.

“Everybody knows Marouane is not Maradona but everyone knows what Marouane is and what he can give,” Mourinho said last year.

Jose Mourinho reveals what he told his players before defeat at Old Trafford

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has revealed what he told his players at Old Trafford, stating that they should not to be fooled by Manchester United’s poor form after his old club failed to beat Bournemouth, Sheffield United and Aston Villa in recent weeks.

But after scoring in a 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford, Alli admitted they failed to heed their manager’s warning.

Mourinho confirmed that he had warned his players what to expect, drawing on his experience of United playing better against the bigger teams because they can counter-attack.

“I tried to fight exactly that state of mind,” he said.

“I tried to tell them exactly the way United approach these matches at home ā€“ against Liverpool, against Chelsea, always the strong start with people running, pressing, trying to lift the morale of the supporters.

“Normally they come from bad results against smaller teams so when they face the big teams people think it’s going to be more difficult for them. It’s not more difficult for them because the responsibilities change and they feel comfortable in this style of play.

“We have to blame ourselves. I think United must obviously be happy with the points, and overall they deserved it.”

Sportsmail reports that the former United boss went into the home dressing-room after the game and congratulated his successor Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

“No problem, what’s the problem?” said Mourinho. “I have nothing against him, I think he has nothing against me. Why should we have any kind of problem?”

Jose Mourinho reveals Tottenham’s decision on move for Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has dismissed speculation that Zlatan Ibrahimovic would join him for a reunion at White Hart Lane.

The former Manchester United striker is keen to join another top European club after announcing that he will be leaving LA Galaxy next month.

Spurs were linked with the 38-year-old just last week after the appointment of Mourinho, and reports claimed he’s billed to replace Fernando Llorente, who left for Napoli last summer.

Some Serie A clubs are reportedly angling for the services of the Swede, and AC Milan are determined to bring him back to San Siro.

But the Portuguese has poured cold water on the reported move, saying: ā€œI have more than a connection [with Ibrahimovic], amazing player, amazing guy, but I would say no chance,’ affirmed the former Inter boss.

‘We have the best striker in England. It doesn’t make sense to sign him when we have Harry Kane.ā€

Former Chelsea manager doubts durable Mourinho-Levy relationship at Tottenham

Former Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has questioned whether his compatriot Jose Mourinho will strike up a strong relationship working alongside chairman Daniel Levy.

Villas-Boas, who was once at the saddle as Tottenham manager, believes Mourinho has the talent to get the club back on track, with the side currently 14th in the Premier League table.

“I’m very happy for Jose (Mourinho),” the Marseille manager told reporters as cited by SkySports.

“A coach with his career cannot spend 11 months without a club. There are coaches who can take sabbaticals, like I did, but Jose is not one of them.

“He is obsessed with football. He comes back to a club I know well, with a president, Daniel Levy, whom I know well.

“It’s an unusual marriage because I know both parties well. These are two characters who have reached an agreement even if I’m not sure it will work very well between the two (laughs). But if a coach can win Tottenham, it’s Jose.”

Jose Mourinho responds to “Mr. Chelsea” tag, insists he doesn’t need new signings to succeed at Tottenham

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has denied the notion that he is Mr. Chelsea, the tag he got because of his relationship with the Stamford Bridge club having had two stints with the Blues as their manager.

The Portuguese was appointed as Mauricio Pochettinoā€™s replacement on Wednesday morning, just 12 hours after the Argentineā€™s sacking.

The former Chelsea boss said:”I think they have to see me as Mr Inter, Mr Real Madrid, Mr Porto. I am a club man, but a many clubs man.

“I am not Chelsea, I am not Inter, I am not Real Madrid, I am all of them. I gave everything to all of them and that is what I am going to give here.

“I decided to have this adventure, go to different countries, until what I call the grand slam, England, Spain and Italy. I did it with this passion and then the Premier League, I thought, is my natural habitat.”

Mourinho insists he doesnā€™t need new signings to be successful at Tottenham.

“The best gift are the players who are here. I donā€™t need new players. I just need to get to know these ones better,ā€ he told reporters.

“I know them well but you never know them well enough until you meet them.

“I told the players I came here because of them. I tried to buy some for different clubs and some I didnā€™t even try because you know how difficult it was.”

He will be in charge for Tottenhamā€™s trip to West Ham on Saturday afternoon.

Tottenham Hotspur sack Mauricio Pochettino

Premier League club Tottenham have sacked Mauricio Pochettino and his coaching staff Jesus Perez, Miguel Dā€™Agostino and Antoni Jimenez.

The Argentine joined the White Hart Lane club five years ago and turned the fortune of the club around, taking them to their first-ever Champions League final.

Chairman of the club, Daniel Levy, said: “We were extremely reluctant to make this change and it is not a decision the Board has taken lightly, nor in haste.

ā€œRegrettably domestic results at the end of last season and beginning of this season have been extremely disappointing.

‘ā€œIt falls to the Board to make the difficult decisions – this one made more so given the many memorable moments we have had with Mauricio and his coaching staff – but we do so in the Club’s best interests.”

Levy continues in his statement: ā€œMauricio and his coaching staff will always be part of our history. I have the utmost admiration for the manner in which he dealt with the difficult times away from a home ground whilst we built the new stadium and for the warmth and positivity he brought to us.

“I should like to thank him and his coaching staff for all they have contributed. They will always be welcome here.

ā€œWe have a talented squad. We need to re-energise and look to deliver a positive season for our supporters.ā€
