Timo Werner reveals discussion with Thiago Silva over Chelsea defender wife’s outburst against him

Timo Werner has revealed that Thiago Silva was quick to apologize to him over the criticism he received from his wife played down the criticism during the first leg of the Champions League semi final against Real Madrid in Spain.

Isabelle da Silva was among those to criticise Werner after his lacklustre display in Chelsea’s Champions League semi-final first leg clash against Real Madrid.

In a video uploaded to Instagram, she said: “This is karma guys. Every team I go to there is a striker who keeps missing goals… this Werner, what is his name?!

“We need a goal, we need to win this match but my attackers don’t want to score, I don’t know why they don’t score.”

Werner has confirmed Thiago apologised to him following the social media outburst, although he played down the incident and said things like this can happen when emotions are running high.

The Germany international made amends this week, scoring the opener as Chelsea beat Real Madrid 2-0 at Stamford Bridge to book their place in the Champions League final.

“Sometimes that can happen when the emotions are overflowing,” Werner told Sky Germany, via the Metro.

“Thiago also apologised directly to me the next day.

“That’s when the matter was ticked off. So I’m all the more happy today, not only for her but also with the other wives of my teammates!

“Hopefully me and the team can get them to cheer again. It’s for the best that the women that are at home are happy, and that the fans are happy.”

Isabelle da Silva changed her tune after Werner scored to help Chelsea knock Real Madrid out of the Champions League on Wednesday night.

She said: “Werner, very good. That’s what I’m talking about. You know how to score a goal. You’re the best, my friend! Love you!”
