Toni Kroos replies Mason Mount’s dig after Real Madrid defeat

Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos has hit back at Mason Mount and insists he still won’t be losing any sleep over Chelsea, though wished the Blues good luck in the Champions League.

The west Londoners held Real to a 1-1 draw in the first leg of their semi-final showdown last week and then produced a superb display at Stamford Bridge in the second leg to seal a 2-0 win and progress to the final in Istanbul, where they will take on Manchester City.

Mount wrapped up the win, netting late on, and after the game took aim at Kroos over some comments he made before the match.

Asked if he was feeling any pressure before taking on Chelsea, Kroos had said: “In my 15 years of playing football, I’ve never lost sleep.”

Mount responded in kind after knocking Kroos and Real out, telling CBS Sports: ‘I saw one of their players say before that he doesn’t lose sleep over individuals.

“But as a team, they need to lose sleep over us as a team. We give so much, we defend for our lives. You saw that in not many chances that we gave away. We are solid and we need to keep that going.”

Now Kroos has reacted again, standing by his previous comments, though he did graciously applaud Chelsea on their win and wished them well against Manchester City.

Quote-tweeting Mount’s comments, Kroos wrote on Twitter: “Still sleeping OK. ‘But well done yesterday. Congrats. Good luck in your first Champions League final.”
