“Trossard is coming in to take someone’s place”, says Arsenal keeper Ramsdale

Arsenal keeper Aaron Ramsdale has warned his table-topping team-mates that new boy Leandro Trossard has come to replace one of their front three.

Brighton winger Trossard made a lively cameo debut in Sunday’s 3-2 Prem home win over Manchester United.

But Ramsdale likens the Belgian’s arrival to his own switch from Sheffield United two years ago.

The stopper went on to oust Germany stopper Bernd Leno perhaps quicker than expected.

Now Leno is with Prem rivals Fulham.

Ramsdale told the The Fellas podcast: “Trossard is coming in to take someone’s place, in his head.

“It might look like he is coming to be part of the squad, deep down like I was with Leno.

“Like, I’ve come to take Leno’s pace, he’s coming to take one of the front three players’ place.

“So if you start saying ‘oh, by the way we’ve signed Trossard’ before it happens, one of them front three might go ‘hang on a minute’.”
