Tuchel reveals why it was harder to train PSG stars compared to Chelsea, identifies players who handed him “difficult moments at PSG”

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel said it was harder to train PSG’s players compared to his current Blues side.

The German coached superstars Neymar Jr and Kylian Mbappe in the French capital but has found more success in west London where he already guided the Blues to Champions League and Super Cup success.

And the reason for this, as Tuchel alluded to in a recent interview with the Sports Festival via CalcioNews24, is that certain players in France were more difficult to manage, coupled with both sets of players from Chelsea and PSG being vastly different in comparison to each other.

“They are all different,” the 48-year revealed.

“So changing coaches is crucial. Our approach is different, the exercise is different. There is a need for different things at a certain moment, perhaps more rigid and more distant, at times, or to let him loose.

“It varies from player to player and from group to group. We always reflect on it. Then there is an individual approach, there is less talk than you think. Words are not enough for these big names.

“Either they feel a connection or not, perhaps the quality of the instructions.

“If it makes sense, if what the coach expects makes sense. What he asks for Neymar, for example, is better on the left side. Why should I start and start this discussion? I should find the best solution on the left side of the field, creating a situation to find it and give it options.

“Neymar is the artist, he will choose. Once this player feels that he is something in his service, then the role becomes more specific. Then you can also criticise the champions, the stars, because the players know they are taking on their responsibilities. It is a pleasure to play with these stars, it becomes easy to be Lukaku’s coach.

“I am happy and grateful to have arrived here. Everyone thinks now of Chelsea, on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Everything is at the service of the game, I’ve never had before.”
