United States top club contact Chelsea outcast Olivier Giroud for January switch

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has reportedly been contacted by MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps.

The former Arsenal striker has played just 100 minutes of action in the Premier League this season after losing his spot to Tammy Abraham, and more recently Michy Batshuayi.

Abraham has been Frank Lampard’s first-choice striker this season, and tops the Premier League goalscoring charts with eight strikes.

Now, Sportsnet650 claims the World Cup winner, 33, is being lined up for a move on the other side of the Atlantic after losing his place in Chelsea’s starting XI.

The reports add that the Whitecaps reached out to the French star, but were told he has a preferred shortlist of destinations that doesn’t include Vancouver.
