arry Kane’s return from injury inspired Tottenham Hotspur to a first win in four matches as they earned a 2-0 home victory over West Bromwich Albion.

Kane, who went close three times in the first half, swept in Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s pass on 54 minutes to become Spurs’ joint-second highest all-time scorer, with 208 goals in all competitions.

Son Heung-min, seemingly boosted by his team-mate’s swift recovery from a double-ankle injury, added Spurs’ second four minutes later.

Kane started a counter-attack which led to Lucas Moura teeing up Son to strike his 13th goal of the season, level with Spurs’ opening scorer.

Mbaye Diagne had West Brom’s best chance but his first-half header was superbly saved on the goalline by Hugo Lloris.

The victory lifts Spurs up to seventh on 36 points, ahead of Chelsea’s trip to Sheffield United later today.

A fourth defeat in five matches leaves West Brom second from bottom, 11 points behind 17th-placed Burnley.
