Roy Keane has slammed David de Gea for his embarrassing blunder that was “like he’s had a few drinks”.

The Manchester United goalkeeper’s error allowed Everton to pull level at Old Trafford in their FA Cup third round clash on Friday night. Antony had given the hosts an early lead after just four minutes before De Gea gifted Conor Coady the chance to equalise for the Toffees 10 minutes later.

De Gea had awkwardly attempted to use his legs to block Neal Maupay’s cut back, only for the ball to ricochet off both his legs and pop out in front of goal.

Coady reacted quickest to beat Diogo Dalot to the loose ball and prod the ball into the empty net, levelling the score at 1-1.

Keane did not hold back with his assessment of the incident at half-time as he fumed: “It’s like he’s had a few drinks. It’s as if the keeper has been sent off and an outfield player has gone in goal.”

Former Arsenal defender Dixon was left equally perplexed by De Gea’s antics on commentary as he scoffed: “Well I can’t believe what I’ve seen. David de Gea has had an absolute nightmare there. I’m not sure where he thinks the ball is going.”

He continued: “What is he doing there? He’s trying to let it go out for a goal kick. I cannot believe what I’ve just seen. What’s his hands for?

“He’s probably the best goalkeeper at making saves with his feet in world football but on that occasion, just put your gloves on it.”

Rival fans were also quick to pick up on the blunder on social media, with one tweeting: “Did De Gea forget how to use his hands there?”

Another wrote: “Embarrassing goal. De Gea is washed.” A third added: “I don’t even have words for that.” Meanwhile, one more supporter also said: “De Gea ALWAYS has an error in him.”

A further rival fan commented: “What on earth is De Gea up to there? He’s supposedly having a good season again this year.”
