AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli and fans have hailed Fikayo Tomori after the Chelsea loanee posted another stunning performance in the Serie A club’s defence in the win over over AS Roma by 2-1.
Pioli was, however, not surprised by Fikayo Tomori’s performance in the win over Roma, relishing ‘a game with high tempo and intensity, the kind we like to play.’
The Rossoneri had gone into this game as underdogs following recent poor results and against the only side that was still unbeaten at home in Serie A this season.
The coach made a surprise decision for this huge game, leaving captain Alessio Romagnoli on the bench in favour of Fikayo Tomori.
“I expected this performance, because Tomori played a derby a couple of days after joining us, so he’s been at this level from the start. I still believe it’s the collective that allows the individual to perform and all together we won a very important match.”
