Italy football star Ciro Immobile could face two weeks out of play after a tram crashed into his car.
The Lazio captain, 33, according to The Sun, was driving with his two daughters in Rome when the horror collision happened on Sunday morning.
Witnesses claim the tram went through a red light before hitting Immobile’s Land Rover SUV.
Shocking pictures show the front of his car completely destroyed following the crash close to the Stadio Olimpico, Lazio’s home ground.
He was taken to hospital and is thought to have suffered a possible fractured shoulder.
It is understood Immobile – who has 55 caps for Italy – was travelling with his two daughters.
Immobile told AGTW at the scene: “The tram ran a red light.
“Luckily I’m fine, my arm just hurts a little.”
But doctors say the footballer could be out for the next fortnight – missing clashes with Turin and Inter, reports Roma Corriere.
The tram derailed during the crash, and the driver was taken to hospital.
Immobile is Lazio’s all-time highest goalscorer and has scored 194 goals in his 289 appearances for the club.
On Friday evening netted the ball from the penalty spot in the club’s 3-1 win over Spezia on Friday evening.
He was part of the Italian national team who scooped the UEFA European Championships title in 2020.
He has three children with wife Jessica Melena – two daughters and a son.
Police are investigating the incident.
