Chelsea star Cesar Azpilicueta is reportedly Diego Simeone’s “favourite” choice to replace Kieran Trippier, who looks set to join Newcastle.

The Chelsea defender’s future is in doubt as his current deal is set to expire in the summer. Thiago Silva penned an extension on Monday, but Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen are also out of contract in June.

Reports in England claim Newcastle have agreed a £12million deal to sign Atletico Madrid full-back Trippier.

Spanish outlet AS are reporting that Azpilicueta is Simeone’s “favourite” choice to replace the Englishman.

The report adds that the Chelsea star is “already being considered” by Atletico Madrid. They are willing to pay a fee for him this month.
