Chelsea jostle with Bayern Munich, AC Milan, Inter Milan for Italian wonderkid

There are reports Chelsea are lining up a move for Chievo Verona wonderkid Emanuel Vignato, but will face competition from Bayern Munich, AC Milan and Inter.

The four-way transfer tussle has been sparked because of Vignato’s impressive showings for the Italian second tier side – although the Blues will have to ensure their transfer ban is lifted before attempting a swoop.

According to La Gazzette dello Sport’s Nicolo Schira, Chelsea sent a scout to watch Vignato in action against Salernitana last month.

The youngster had been promoted to Verona’s first-team last season, and remains a key player despite the club’s relegation to Serie B.

But for Chelsea to come out on top in the battle for Vignato’s signature, Frank Lampard’s men will first have to overturn their imposed restriction on transfer activity, report the Sportsmail.

The London outfit are currently banned from signing any new players until the summer of 2020 after being found in breach of FIFA regulations on the recruiting of young players.

However, there is a chance that the ban could be lifted – and Chelsea are reportedly hopeful that the punishment could be lifted in January.
