Chelsea receive Kai Havertz transfer boost as Bayer Leverkusen accept Blues terms

Reports in Germany claim Chelsea have been handed a major boost in the London club’s move for Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz.

According to BILD, the Bundesliga club are willing to accept instalments for Havertz over the course of several years, with performance-related bonuses also included.

The update could bring Havertz a step closer to Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea favourites to land the Germany international.

Leverkusen are, however, standing by their £90million asking price but in a new twist they are now showing flexibility over the payments.

The fee was proving a problem for the Blues, who were reluctant to pay an up-front sum, but now Leverkusen have shown flexibility.

It was unclear how the Blues would finance a deal for Havertz, with big-money deals for Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech already wrapped up.

Real Madrid are also reportedly interested in the attacking midfielder.

The 21-year-old played his last game for the club in their 4-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in the German Cup final in Berlin 11 days ago.
