Chelsea’s prime target opens transfer talks with Bayern Munich

Plans by Chelsea to sign Crystal Palace’s talisman Wilfred Zaha may be a mirage if the latest reports about the winger are true.

Zaha’s new agent Pini Zahavi has reportedly held talks with Bayern Munich over the prospect of his client sealing a move to the Bundesliga giants.

The Ivory Coast international has decided to cut ties with long-time agent Will Salthouse as he looks for a new opportunity away from Selhurst Park.

The 27-year-old attacker is keen on playing for a side which can challenge for major honours and Bayern Munich fit that bill.

Sky Sports, meanwhile, believe it is unlikely Bayern will sign Zaha but they have held preliminary talks with Zahavi.

Zaha split from Salthouse, who has close links with Palace owner Steve Parish, at the weekend with Zahavi now acting on his behalf.

Zahavi previously worked with the likes of Rio Ferdinand and Roman Abramovich during his career as a sports agent.

Zaha is keen to play for a side which challenges for trophies with Crystal Palace unable to give him the platform to compete for silverware.

According to the Sportsmail, he is likely to move in the summer rather than January with chairman Parish unlikely to let him go before the end of the season.

He previously left Selhurst Park for Manchester United in January 2013 before staying at the Eagles until the summer to help them secure promotion to the top flight.
