Fresh reports emerge over Chelsea move for Bayern Munich star

There are reports that that Chelsea are getting ‘regular updates’ on David Alaba’s contract situation ahead of a potential move this summer.

The versatile defender is out of contract at Bayern Munich after this season and he is said to be keen to leave after spending 11 of the last 12 years at the Bundesliga club.

Alaba was offered a new contract at Bayern but after he rejected it, it’s believed the Bundesliga club took it off the table with the defender looking for a new challenge.

Eurosport report on the Blues being kept in the loop with the player’s representatives said to be expecting a chunky fee for the move despite the Austrian defender being available on a free next summer.

The report claims Chelsea would need to pay a big wage, a sizable signing on fee and significant agent fee to land Alaba this summer.

Chelsea have been installed as early favourites to lure Alaba to Stamford Bridge with the 28-year-old perhaps looking to following in the footsteps of Thiago Silva, who has enjoyed a successful move so far following his free switch from PSG ahead of this season.

But Liverpool and PSG are also being linked with a move ahead of the January transfer window when clubs from outside Germany can begin negotiations over a pre-contract agreement.
