Guardiola drops Leroy Sane’s transfer bombshell as Bayern Munich circle

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has said his club are willing to sell Leroy Sane if the winger tells him he wants to leave the club.

Sane has been the subject of protracted interest from Bayern Munich this summer, to the extent that manager Nico Kovac said he was confident of landing the 23-year-old, but as yet he remains in the north west.

The Premier League champions’ boss claims that the Germany international has not made any request to join the Bundeliga giants this summer.

“I want players who want to stay because it’s impossible for me as a manager to convince a player to do what we want to do when his head is away from here,” Guardiola said as cited by Sky Sports.

“But the player didn’t tell me anything that he wants to leave, so that is the only reality I have. If he knocks on the door and tells me he wants to leave then, okay, we are going to speak with the club. But nobody has told me that.

“So that’s why he’s our player, he’s my player. We want him to stay here because we try to extend the contract for more than one year.”

Bayern Munich have, however, denied reports claiming the club have made a bid for the Manchester City winger, stating that they are untrue.

The Bundesliga champions tweeted a statement, saying: “News reports made today stating that Leroy Sane has decided to join FC Bayern do not correspond to the facts.”
