Hakim Ziyech makes honest assessment of his Chelsea debut performance on Saturday

Hakim Ziyech has expressed his disappointment at making his debut in Chelsea’s 3-3 draw against Southampton.

The 27-year-old came on in the 72nd minute when the Blues were winning 3-2.

But the Saints nicked a draw at the death after Jannik Vestergaard scored in injury time.

And Ziyech gave an honest assessment of his debut in a Chelsea shirt, having had to wait for his opportunity after picking up an injury in pre-season.

“It means a lot, I am very happy about it,” he said in an interview with the club website after making his debut.

“But it is not the debut that we all hoped for.

“In the first half, we played well and had some big chances, and got to 2-0. It was a bit disappointing that they got the goal before half time, and then it went 2-2, 3-2 and then in the last minutes, 3-3, which is not something we can be happy about.”
