Liverpool legend identifies Chelsea star responsible for 1-1 draw against Leicester City

Liverpool legend Graeme Souness has blamed Cesar Azpilicueta for making Chelsea to surrender two points in the Premier League match against Leicester City.

The Chelsea captain was beaten in the air by Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi for the Foxes’ equaliser, as the visitors came from behind to earn a point at Stamford Bridge.

And Souness – not for the first time – has been critical of the Spanish defender, with the Sky Sports pundit laying the blame for the goal on Azpilicueta, report Football.London.

“[Cesar] Azpilicueta has been a fabulous defender for Chelsea, at no time is he aware that he [Wilfred Ndidi] is coming into his territory,” Souness said.

“He looks – or he half looks – he’s now totally focused on the ball. Ndidi gets there early, Azpilicueta doesn’t know he’s there, he [Ndidi] jumps early, and that is too easy. It’s in the middle of your goal on the six yard line. It’s too easy. Last week he gave two goals away Azpilicueta, and he’s given that goal away today, in my opinion.”

Last week, Souness was also critical of Azpilicueta after Chelsea lost 4-0 at Old Trafford against Manchester United, with the former Newcastle United and Blackburn Rovers boss saying that he felt the Blues skipper would be “angry with himself” as he said he was at fault for two goals.
