Nathan Ake undergoes Manchester City medical as Frank Lampard declines to take up defender transfer option

Nathan Ake is reportedly in Manchester to undergo a Manchester City medical in the next 24 hours.

According to SkySports, City are expected to complete the signing of Ake this week, after agreeing a fee of £41m with Bournemouth.

But Frank Lampard had first refusal under the terms of the deal which took him to the Cherries.

Chelsea have now informed Bournemouth they do not want to sign the 25-year-old centre-back despite their need to improve defensively over the summer.

And that leaves Ake in the clear to complete the formalities of his move to the Etihad once he returns from holiday with his partner.

Chelsea pulling out of any move for Ake will only increase speculation that West Ham star Declan Rice is their top target.

The Dutchman returned from holiday on Tuesday and got engaged while away.

Personal terms are not expected to be a problem.

An announcement is expected in the next 48 hours.
