N’Golo Kante picks Chelsea fans’ favourite when asked to choose player he would sign as Blues manager

N’Golo Kante has revealed who he would move for in the transfer market if he were suddenly installed as Chelsea manager.

Speaking to Chelsea’s official app, The 5th Stand, Kante was asked about who he would sign for the Blues if he were in the hotseat instead of Frank Lampard – though with the added caveat that the player in question could also be retired.

The World Cup winner responded with a diplomatic answer destined to please Chelsea fans: “I’d probably say John Terry because when I came to Chelsea, he was the figure of the club and knows what it means to be here.

“I knew all about him from a young age and he helped the club very well.”

Terry, who became Chelsea’s most successful captain after 22 years at the club, and is current the assistant head coach of Aston Villa.

Kante also opened up about how he felt when signing for the club from Leicester City back in 2016, Evening Standard report.

Having won the Premier League title with the Foxes – who were 5,000/1 outsiders at the beginning of the 2015/16 season – Kante swapped the King Power Stadium for Stamford Bridge, and inspired his new club to to the title in 2017.

Kante said of his transfer: “I was very happy to be at this club, very proud to be a Chelsea player and just looking forward to the challenges ahead.”
