Real Madrid join Chelsea on the hunt for Timo Werner

There are reports that Real Madrid are looking to boost their attacking force with the signing of Timo Werner from RB Leipzig.

Werner has been on fine form in the Bundesliga in recent years and has already scored 18 times in the league this season.

Second behind Robert Lewandowski in the race for the Torjägerkanone (Top scorer), the German forward has been linked with some of Europe’s top clubs in the past 12 months, report The Sun.

According to El Desmarque, Zinedine Zidane is looking to add the 23-year-old in the summer to bolster their attack.

Madrid signed Luka Jovic from Eintracht Frankfurt last summer but hasn’t made the impact they expected, scoring just once this season.

Werner has been linked with a move to Chelsea recently but it is unlikely Leipzig will part with their top scorer in January with the club sitting top of the Bundesliga.

Leipzig are two points ahead of Borussia Monchengladbach as they prepare for the second half of the season.

The German forward has been a consistent performer for Julian Nagelsmann’s side and the Bundesliga leaders will be reluctant to let their star man leave.
