Real Madrid set to raid Stamford Bridge for defence ace, Chelsea player says “we will see what happens this summer”

There are reports Real Madrid are planning a surprise swoop for Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso this summer as they confident of signing the London club’s talisman Eden Hazard.

The player’s versatility and attacking threat, alongside his defensive work, are qualities which ensure he is admired by the outgoing European champions.

Alonso came through Real Madrid’s La Fabrica youth system but did not make the grade in the first-team and has since represented several clubs, joining Chelsea from Fiorentina in 2016.

“I am very happy here but we will see what happens this summer,” Alonso told the London Evening Standard.

“There is always talk (like this). Is it a compliment? Yes. It means I’m doing well if other teams are trying to get in touch.

“But first of all I’m focusing on the final. I am very happy to have four more years here and hopefully I will stay many more years here.”

Alonso is viewed as a set-piece specialist and offers a goal threat, and will represent Chelsea in the Europa League final against Arsenal.
