Sergio Aguero rushed to hospital after suffering difficulty in breathing during La Liga encounter at Nou Camp

Sergio Aguero was forced off during Barcelona’s clash with Alaves on Saturday night after appearing to have difficulty breathing.

The Argentinian striker went down four minutes before half-time at the Nou Camp in clear discomfort, meaning Barca’s medical team rushed onto the field with a stretcher.

But fortunately it was not needed in the end, as Aguero soon returned to his feet and trudged off the field to be replaced by Philippe Coutinho after being treated by physios.

He was, however, swiftly taken to hospital in an ambulance while the game reached its conclusion.

Fans posted their concern on social media, in scenes which brought back harrowing memories of other football tragedies in recent times.

But the fact he was able to walk off the pitch left fans reassured that the issue would not be serious.

Barca were unable to break down the visitors in what proved a disappointing opening 45 minutes, which comes just a few days after they parted company with Ronald Koeman.

Koeman was dismissed after just 14 months in charge of there Catalans, paying the price for a miserable start to the season which had seen them take just 15 points from 10 La Liga matches.
