Tension grips Chelsea players

Reports in England indicate that the current atmosphere at Chelsea is tense, with manager Frank Lampard in the midst of shaping a squad which has brought in six new faces this summer.

Marcos Alonso is one of those whose future is uncertain, with rampant speculation about his future, and things came to a head after the 3-3 draw with West Brom when Lampard gave him a public dressing down in front of the rest of the squad.

Along with Alonso, the future is uncertain for Kepa Arrizabalaga, Victor Moses, Antonio Rudiger, Emerson Palmieri, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Jorginho and Fikayo Tomori could leave the club before the deadline with either a permanent or loan move this summer.

According to a report from the Athletic, things are tense at Chelsea right now, with uncertainty surrounding a number of players and some pushing for an exit.

Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva, Kai Havertz and Edouard Mendy have all been brought in to strengthen the first team.

Both Chilwell and Mendy were signed to address the problem areas of left-back and goalkeeper but neither have featured in the Premier League yet.

It is clear that Chelsea are still a side in transition, with new signings needing to be bedded in, youngsters needing to gain experience and fringe players needing to be shipped out.

When Lampard helped persuade the in-demand Werner and Havertz to make the move to Stamford Bridge, he spoke about Chelsea’s three-year plan to get back to the top and he needs time to execute this plan.

Along with Chilwell and Mendy, both Ziyech and Christian Pulisic are yet to feature this season with the pair recovering from injuries.
