Pedro confirms receiving “offers from many places”, reveals his next line of action

Chelsea star Pedro has confirmed reports that some clubs are jostling to acquire his services in the summer.

The Spaniard’s contract with the Stamford Bridge club expires on the 30th of June, and will clock 33 in July.

Newcastle, Real Betis and AS Roma are some of the clubs that are angling to sign the Tenerife-born winger.

He has decided to meet with Chelsea before taking a decision on the next club to join, saying he is open to all possibilities as a free agent.

“The coronavirus situation affected everything, so at the moment we are waiting for a meeting with Chelsea,” Pedro told El Larguero radio as cited by Football Italia.

“I know that the contract is concluding, but we have not yet sat down to discuss whether to renew and continue here or not. I’m waiting for the meeting with the club, but am also open to listening to other offers.

“The priority right now is completing my contract, then we’ll see what happens.”

Pedro was asked if a return to Spain was on the cards, but again remained vague.

“I don’t know, I really don’t know. I have offers from many places and I’ll evaluate what to do next. The truth is, I don’t know what’s going to happen.”

Chelsea starlet Billy Gilmour reveals why he wears Liverpool shirt while playing football in his garden

Billy Gilmour has explained the rationale for wearing Liverpool shirt while playing football in the garden.

The Blues youngster turned in an eye-catching performance against Liverpool in the FA Cup for Chelsea earlier this season.

And the 18-year-old, who is one of the most exciting young prospects in the Premier League, proved it was not a one off having gone on to produce a couple of excellent performances for Frank Lampard’s side in both cup competition and the top flight.

Gilmour was named man of the match after an eyebrow-raising performance against Liverpool which earned him significant praise from a number of figures within the game.

After the match against the Reds, his compatriot Andy Robertson offered him words of encouragement and the Scotland captain gave the youngster his shirt.

When speaking to Chelsea’s official website, Gilmour was asked when he last wore the shirt of a team he wasn’t playing for.

He said: “It was probably Andy Robertson’s Liverpool shirt when I swapped with him after the recent FA Cup game.

“I wear that sometimes at the moment, just out in the garden playing football.”

Gilmour revealed he spoke to left-back Robertson following the FA Cup clash in March too.

“After the game, I swapped shirts with Andy Robertson,” he said recently.

“He came up to me after the game and said ‘well done, you played really well, keep doing it and hopefully see you soon in the first-team squad’.

Chelsea prime target likened to Blues legend Michael Ballack

Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz has been likened to Chelsea legend Michael Ballack by former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann.

The 20-year-old is widely regarded to be one of the most exciting young players in European football and has attracted a wealth of transfer interest, with Bayern Munich among them.

Chelsea and Manchester United are reportedly keen to sign the Germany international in the summer.

Frank Lampard is said to be impressed by Havertz and is seriously considering him for a place in his squad having jettisoned his move for Barcelona star Philippe Coutinho.

Hamann has, hoever, named Havertz as the Bundesliga player that Premier League clubs should be looking at.

“He is an exceptional player, he reminds me of a young Michael Ballack. He has got that air of arrogance in a good way, he’s just a natural, he’s tall, he’s two-footed, he’s good in the air, he is very versatile and can play in any position,” he told Sky Sports’ Football Show as cited by Liverpool Echo.

“I think he is the best player we have got in Germany at the moment. There is talk about teams making a move to bring him to England and Havertz is the one I would be looking at.”
