England handed warning over Chelsea youngster Fikayo Tomori

England boss Gareth Southgate has been warned he risks losing Chelsea starlet Fikayo Tomori to Nigeria.

Canada-born defender Tomori, who has 15 caps for the Three Lions Under-21s, sprung into the limelight with his brilliant display against Liverpool striker Mo Salah a week ago.

The 21-year-old is eligible for Nigeria through his parents.

And ex-Spurs hitman Garth Crooks told the BBC: “This lad caught my eye against Liverpool when Mohamed Salah tried to outrun him and Tomori handled the chase comfortably and with gears to spare. Needless to say, I was impressed.

“Against Brighton, it was a very different proposition, but Tomori looked composed and comfortable, like a player who is going places.

“I hear the Nigerians have their eye on this talent and the Super Eagles’ pulling power is not to be underestimated.

“England manager Gareth Southgate should not take Tomori’s England age group appearances for granted.”
