Tammy Abraham hands Jose Mourinho injury scare after Tuesday appearance for England against Hungary

Roma striker Tammy Abraham limped off just a few minutes into his substitute appearance for England against Hungary.

The forward was on target in the last World Cup qualifier against Andorra and was introduced by Gareth Southgate at Wembley Stadium at the 76th minute, replacing Harry Kane, in the 1-1 draw with Hungary this evening.

However, he only lasted until the 92nd minute, when he was helped off the pitch limping badly after a knock.

Roma will be in touch with the England international medical staff and hope it is simply a bruise rather than anything more concerning.

The Giallorossi will play Juventus in Serie A this weekend.

Abraham turned 24 this month and has made a wonderful start to his Serie A career, scoring four goals and providing two assists in 10 competitive appearances for the Capital club.

He completed the transfer from Chelsea at a cost of €40m plus bonuses and a percentage of the sell-on fee.

Newcastle set to raid Serie A, plot sensational swoop for Juventus, AC Milan, Inter stars

Newcastle’s new owners are reportedly targeting a host of Serie A stars, including Juventus winger Federico Chiesa and Milan midfielder Franck Kessie.

Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) has bought 80 per cent shares in the club and seem to have big plans for the future of the Magpies.

The Ivory Coast international’s deal with Milan expires in June 2022 and Corriere della Sera revealed he has already been offered to Inter.

Juventus starlet Chiesa is another name on the list of targets mentioned by Tuttosport and the Newcastle owners are reportedly looking at a possible deal for his Bianconeri teammate Matthijs de Ligt too.

The Dutch defender will have a €150m release clause in his contract, which is valid from next summer.

Inter stars Stefan de Vrij and Marcelo Brozovic are other possible candidates and the latter is currently in contract talks with the Nerazzurri.

Brozovic’s deal expires in June 2022 and the interest from Newcastle mean Inter must up their offer to tie him down to a new deal.

“But it was something that only lasted three hours, because PSG were already obsessed with signing him.”

“As players we want to play in as many top competitions and top games as we can, as Gareth Southgate has said.

“We want to be involved in those big games.

“But it would be good to have the players’ input – that would be positive to help shape the future.”

REVEALED AT LAST! Why Kevin De Bruyne, Mohamed Salah never made it at Chelsea

Kevin de Bruyne and Mo Salah never made it at Chelsea because of personality clashes with Jose Mourinho.

Chelsea’s former loan technical coach Eddie Newton thinks Salah and De Bruyne were “more than good enough” to play for Chelsea and didn’t do so because of a “clash” with Jose Mourinho.

De Bruyne and Salah both struggled to secure a first-team role at Chelsea during Mourinho’s second spell at the club from 2013 to 2015.

De Bruyne left in 2014 and is now shining with Manchester City while Salah joined Roma in 2016 and has developed into one of the best players in the world at Liverpool.

The 49-year-old told Goal: “I think Salah and De Bruyne wasn’t about talent.

“It was a personality clash [with Jose Mourinho]. I just didn’t think it was working at the time.

“I think they were more than good enough. But it was the manager who didn’t see eye-to-eye with them, so it wasn’t going to work.”

Liverpool striker Sadio Mane has blasted the decision not to nominate Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy for this year’s Ballon d’Or as ‘inadmissible’.

The Senegal international played a crucial role in Chelsea’s Champions League triumph last term.

And Mendy was named European Goalkeeper of the Year award from Uefa in August.

He has now been nominated for this year’s Yachine Trophy.

Named in honour of legendary Russian ace Lev Yashin, the only goalie to win the Ballon d’Or in 1963, it will be presented at the upcoming awards ceremony this winter.

However, Senegal teammate Mane can’t believe Mendy hasn’t been put forward for the top prize itself.

The Liverpool ace told Onze Mondial: “It’s inadmissible. I don’t understand it, it’s regrettable.”
