Frank Lampard plots swoop for Chelsea youngster as Thomas Tuchel is set to give condition

Frank Lampard has reportedly already spoken to Chelsea over the potential transfer of Conor Gallagher.

TEAMtalk reports that Frank Lampard has approached Chelsea to make sure Everton are top of the list of potential clubs if Gallagher is sent out on loan again next season.

Rumours are that Thomas Tuchel is interested in promoting him to the first team but if Lampard’s Everton can offer more guaranteed first team football, it could make sense for all parties.

Gallagher is currently on loan at Crystal Palace and has been extremely impressive, leading to an England call up last November.

The young Englishman has added goals to his game, something we didn’t see a lot of previous to his transfer to Selhurst Park.

He’s managed seven goals in the league from midfield as well as three assists.

Sergio Aguero set to join Argentina coach Scaloni as part of his backroom staff

Sergio Aguero said he is in talks with Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni to be a part of his backroom staff ahead of the World Cup.

Aguero suffered an arrhythmia while playing a league game with Barcelona on Oct. 30 and six weeks later, announced he had to retire from football at the age of 33 due to a heart condition.

Although his wish of playing in a fourth World Cup is over, Aguero is hopeful he can help Argentina lift the trophy in a different role.

“I want to go to the World Cup,” Aguero said. “I spoke to Scaloni. He called me… the lads as well.

“We are looking to have a meeting this week and see what can be done… There is the idea that I could be a part of the backroom staff. If I go, I would be able to be with the players and be in the training sessions.”

Italy football legend reveals why Romelu Lukaku is struggling at Chelsea

Former England manager Fabio Capello has offered a fascinating insight as to why Romelu Lukaku is struggling at Chelsea.

Lukaku set a Premier league record of the fewest touches ever in a Premier League game during the 1-0 win against Crystal Palace at the weekend.

While on punditry duty for Sky Italia, Capello hinted that Chelsea’s possession-based football is the reason for Lukaku’s woes.

He said: “Lukaku fit perfectly into Conte’s counter-attacking style at Inter, because there were lots of spaces, he had this physical strength and pace that allowed him to flatten the defenders in Serie A.

“However, Chelsea play this very different type of football with lots of short passes and Lukaku doesn’t have the same spaces to move in.

“He also finds that in England the defenders have a similar physicality to him and hold out more.

Chelsea coasted home to a comfortable 2-0 lead with a professional performance, a routine win to take with them to France for the second leg in three weeks time.

Goals in either half from Kai Havertz and Christian Pulisic have the European champions with one foot in the quarter-finals, and it’s now on to the League Cup final on Sunday.

Havertz headed the Blues in front unmarked after just eight minutes before Pulisic scored a second after a brilliant run from N’Golo Kante.

Out-of-sorts striker Romelu Lukaku was only a substitute, with Havertz the main attacking threat – and the German almost scoring twice before his early strike.

Chelsea had few alarms against a spirited Lille side, with their composed and professional performance summed up by the quality shown by veteran defender Thiago Silva and outstanding midfield man Kante.

Silva made a mockery of his 37 years with a peerless performance, spending most of the night in cruise control, displaying experience and perfect positioning to snuff out any moments of danger.

The Brazilian also has a turn of pace when required and is such a consummate performer that he is a cult figure among Chelsea fans, who chanted his name throughout. Silva is a defender and leader of the highest class, who appears to improve with age.

A further bonus for boss Tuchel was the return of Kante to prime form, plugging gaps and starting attacks all over the pitch – perpetual motion at all times and a crucial component in his side’s engine room.

There was no better illustration of what Kante brings to Chelsea than the surging run and perfect pass to Pulisic, that allowed the forward to lift a finish over the onrushing Lille keeper Leo Jardim for a second goal that may yet prove decisive in pursuit of a place in the last eight.

The only negatives on a good night for Chelsea and manager Thomas Tuchel were injuries to Ziyech and midfielder Mateo Kovacic ahead of Sunday’s EFL Cup final against Liverpool at Wembley.

“I should have subbed Mateo at half-time,” Tuchel told BT Sport.

“I have not spoken to the doctor about Hakim and hope it is not serious. Today is Tuesday, there are a lot of days to recover until Sunday. I hope they will be ready for Sunday.”
