Diego Simeone hunts for Chelsea first-team star amid departures of key players from Atletico Madrid

There are reports that Altletico Madrid are planning to sign Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso in the summer. is being lined up by Atletico Madrid for a summer move, according to reports.

Diego Simeone is certain to lose Lucas Hernandez while Filipe Luis is also expected to leave at the end of the season.

World Cup-winner Hernandez, 23, agreed a deal to join Bayern Munich for a club-record £68million in March.

Meanwhile former Chelsea defender Luis, 33, is out of contract and is not likely to be handed an extension.

According to The Sun, citing AS’s report, Simeone is desperate to sign a left-back, and Chelsea’s Alonso is being lined up by Atletico Madrid for a summer move.

The Spaniard moved to Stamford Bridge in 2016 and won the Premier League in his first season.

He is under contract until 2023 after putting pen to paper on a new deal in October.

But this year he has faced competition from Emerson Palmieri, who has been picked ahead of the out-of-form Alonso towards the end of the campaign.

And it is the Italian who is likely to start in the Europa League final on May 29.

Alonso started his career at Atletico’s city rivals Real Madrid, coming through the academy with fellow defenders Nacho and Dani Carvajal.

But after just one first-team appearance, he left for Bolton and spent three years with the Trotters before moving to Fiorentina.

Simeone will be hopeful the good relationship between Chelsea and Atletico Madrid will help seal the deal.

As well as Luis, Diego Costa, and Alvaro Morata have made the switch from West London to Madrid in recent years.

But Chelsea may be reluctant to let the deal go through due to their upcoming two-window transfer ban.

Selling Alonso would leave Emerson as the only experienced first-team left-back at the club, with the likes of Jay Dasilva – returning from his loan spell at Bristol City – and £21.7million flop Baba Rahman unlikely to be ready for Premier League and Champions League action.

Alvaro Morata reveals his decision on Chelsea future amid speculation Atletico Madrid are planning to terminate his loan deal

Atletico Madrid striker Alvaro Morata has confirmed his desire to stay with Los Rojiblancos and not return to parent club Chelsea.

The Sun reported last week that Atletico were considering sending Morata back to Stamford Bridge after it emerged that they would have to pay Chelsea £15million to keep him until 2020.

Morata joined the Spanish outfit in January after failing to nail down a starting place in west London, scoring just 24 times in his 72 appearances for the club since signing from Real Madrid for £58m two years ago.

“What I want is very clear, I want to be here,” Morata told reporters at an event on Thursday, as cited by Marca.

“I want to do everything I can to continue playing at this club and be a success here, I have no intention of going back anywhere else and I am very happy here.

“My idea is to continue playing for many years at the top level and even though this is just a loan deal, this is something that is advancing very well and hopefully there can be the right solution.

“I put my everything into joining this club and now I will put my everything into staying here, it is the only thing on my mind.”
