Kurt Zouma warns Liverpool, says “we have our weapons, we can hurt them.”

Kurt Zouma has warned Premier League champions Liverpool about Chelsea’s credentials as a team playing for titles and can equally hurt the Reds.

Chelsea are billed to face the Jurgen Klopp side, who inflicted a 5-3 defeat on them at Anfield toward the end of last season.

The west London club have strenghtened their team by signing top players like Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, Hakim Ziyech, Thiago Silva, Ben Chilwell, Malang Sarr.

However, Zouma played down expectations ahead of Frank Lampard’s new-look Chelsea side’s first big test against champions Liverpool.

He said: “We have nothing to prove to people. What I would say is, we just focus on ourselves.

“Of course Chelsea is a team that plays for titles. It’s going to be a tough game, two great teams fighting. It’s going to be great to watch.

“Last season Liverpool completely dominated the season, they had a great run of wins. They hardly lost.

“But this is another year. Everybody starts from zero.

“We will see what we can do. We want to compete with the best.

“They have a great front three, but we also have our weapons. We can hurt them.”
