(Watch Highhlights) Tottenham return to the top after North London derby win over Arsenal (Match Report)

First-half goals from Heung-Min Son and Harry Kane followed by an outstanding defensive display ensured victory for Tottenham in the north London derby.

Tottenham Hotspur returned to the top of the Premier League table as 2,000 of their fans enjoyed a 2-0 win over Arsenal.

Arsenal dominated the possession, while Spur scored the goals. The visitors had all of the ball in the opening minutes but failed to test Hugo Lloris and when they launched another cross into the area, it led to Mourinho-tutored side’s opening goal.

Eric Dier headed away, Steven Bergwijn helped it on to Kane, who held the ball up and pinged it out wide left to Son Heung-min. He advanced down the flank before cutting onto his right foot and curling a sumptuous effort from 25 yards out past Bernd Leno’s despairing dive, his 10th goal of the season.

The South Korean returned the compliment in first-half stoppage time when he fed Kane, who powered his shot in off the underside of the bar to become the record scorer in north London derbies, with 11 goals across all competitions.

The goals were the 10th and 11th times the pair had set each other up for goals this season.

Arsenal carried more of a threat after the interval. Just two minutes into the second half, Lloris saved right on his line from Alexandre Lacazette’s flicked header, Aubameyang headed Kieran Tierney’s cross over the bar and Lloris was there again on 68 minutes, just managing to push another Lacazette header away for a corner.

But while Arsenal pushed the hosts back for most of the second period, defensively we were so solid with everyone in the team playing their part, making key blocks, winning vital headers, timing tackles to perfection and just preventing the Gunners from finding a way through.

Mourinho fires title warning to Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, others

Jose Mourinho has fired a title warning to the Premier League after Spurs beat Arsenal 2-0 to go top of the table.

He said: “We grew up. I can imagine lots of people can imagine three matches in a row – against Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal – would be a moment for us to drop points and go back to ‘normality’.

“But we didn’t go back to ‘normality’ – we are there.

“The players work like animals, with all the respect to animals. I love animals don’t get me wrong, but they were working amazingly hard when they didn’t have the ball.

“Harry Kane clearing balls in the box and Son working on Bellerin and then the two centre backs.

“This isn’t about scoring goals and being world class; they are also great guys and great pros who give everything for the team.”

Leeds United boss identifies Chelsea’s crucial player, reacts to Blues fans impact on 3-1 match result

Marcelo Bielsa said that Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante proved crucial in helping the Blues seal victory at Stamford Bridge.

Frank Lampard’s men rose to the top of the Premier League table with their 3-1 win. Goals from Olivier Giroud, Kurt Zouma and Christian Pulisic sealed all three points.

As for Leeds, they started the game in electric fashion and continued that throughout the first half. However, Chelsea‘s recent form showed as they dominated their visitors in the second half.

Speaking to Match of the Day (via BBC Sport), Bielsa added that set-pieces were key. Indeed, Zouma’s goal – which put Chelsea in front – came from a corner.

“We failed to neutralise them from set-pieces and at the end it was important,” the manager said.

“It was difficult for us to stop them playing out from the back with their centre-backs and N’Golo Kante.

“The difficulty for us was we didn’t manage to take the ball off them in their own half.”

Meanwhile, Bielsa has played down the impact Chelsea fans had on their side’s 3-1 victory over Leeds United.

The Leeds boss had been critical of a plan that allows 10 Premier League clubs to welcome fans back to matches, courtesy of being in a tier two area, whilst the remaining 10 remain behind closed doors due to being in tier three.

Chelsea fans took a particular dislike to Llorente, jeering him throughout the second half.

Yet, speaking post-match, Bielsa said the fans’ presence had little impact on his side’s performance.

He said as cited by Leeds Live: “I don’t think they influenced it.”

The Whites’ boss however concluded by saying Chelsea “are one of the most important teams in the Premier League.

Frank Lampard reacts to Chelsea win over Leeds United

Frank Lampard has commended his players for staying “positive against a team that stresses you and strains you in how they move and the energy.”

Chelsea completed a 3-1 comeback win in front of their home fans at Stamford Bridge on Saturday night.

Goals from Kurt Zouma and Christian Pulisic delivered victory to Chelsea after Oliver Giroud had cancelled out Leeds’ Patrick Bamford.

Lampard said: “Well we started brilliantly, and in the first few minutes, in the first passes or little passage of the game they score.

“So there’s the test straight away against a team of their quality, but I think over the period of the game we created so many opportunities, real clear cut ones, good opportunities.

“We stayed positive against a team that stresses you and strains you in how they move and the energy in their team.

“You have to defend well, you have to accept they’re probably going to get chances because of the amount of numbers they got forward at different times, but we dominated the game in terms of the action in the boxes.”

“And [we] fully deserved the win, I just wanted it to be more comfortable and it was [for] probably about the last thirty seconds.”

Manchester United legend identifies four Red Devils stars to benefit from Edinson Cavani

Gary Neville has named the four Manchester United players who stand to benefit from Edinson Cavani’s arrival at the club.

The former United defender named Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood and Daniel James as the players who can learn from the ex-PSG frontman.

Neville said: “The nervousness from United fans when Cavani came in was due to the experiences that they’ve had with Falcao – that haven’t worked, were last minute and did not look like they were planned.

“Cavani, you have to say, it’s about getting him up to speed, getting him match-fit, and he looks a real threat.

“Greenwood, Martial, Rashford and James – they all look like they need someone who can mentor them, who can show them the way.

“If he can do that for United this season by playing well himself and also guiding the players, then he’ll be a great signing.”

Frank Lampard keen to sign Serie A goalkeeper… Not AC Milan’s Donnarumma

There are reports that Chelsea remain interested in Udinese goalkeeper Juan Musso despite signing Edouard Mendy.

The Blues signed Mendy from Rennes in the summer while record signing Kepa Arrizabalaga remains at the club despite falling down the pecking order.

Mendy has impressed between the sticks for Frank Lampard’s side since becoming the club’s new No1 but Chelsea maintain an interest in Musso after being linked with the Argentine stopper in March.

However, Mundo Udinese claims both Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are ‘testing the waters’ with a view to signing the 26-year-old.

How Chelsea Thiago Silva, Chilwell, other Chelsea stars celebrated win over Leeds on social media

It is no longers news that Chelsea fought back at Stamford Bridge to secure a 3-1 win over Leeds United who shot to the lead via Blues academy product Patrick Bamford.

Chelsea struck twice in the second half as they came from behind to beat Leeds United 3-1 in front of 2,000 returning home fans.

Leeds took the lead in the fourth minute when Patrick Bamford rounded Edouard Mendy to score against his former side.

Timo Werner then missed a glorious chance to equalise, somehow firing over from point-blank range.

However, Olivier Giroud made it 1-1 on 27 minutes when he slid in at the near post to convert Reece James’s cross.

Chelsea pushed for a second goal and it came on 61 minutes, Kurt Zouma rising highest to head in a Mason Mount corner.

Christian Pulisic wrapped up the win from close range in stoppage time after being played in by Werner.

Frank Lampard’s side go top on 22 points after extending their unbeaten Premier League run to nine matches.

After the match, some of the club’s stars took to twitter to express their joy at claiming another three points against another difficult side.

Olivier Giroud: “Now we need to carry on the good momentum. Honestly we were not surprised to face this team because we knew the qualities. It’s one of the best teams I’ve faced, physically they run everywhere. I had the opportunity to score again today and I’m very happy for the squad because we work hard in training, have faith in our gameplan and we get better and better.”
