Arsenal offer Lacazette to Jose Mourinho as Roma close in on Tammy Abraham

Arsenal have offered Alexandre Lacazette to AS Roma to try and sign Tammy Abraham, according to reports in Italy, as per Sport Witness.

The Rome-based club are said to be advanced in negotiations for Abraham, who the Gunners also want, and Edu has offered Lacazette to try and lure Jose Mourinho away from their target.

Corriere della Sera explain ‘his agent pushes to bring him to Roma, which, compared to Arsenal, would guarantee him greater opportunities for growth’.

As things stand, Roma have offered him a €4m/year contract, which is below the €5m/year he is asking for, and that’s when Mourinho picked up the phone to ‘induce him to accept’.

Either way, Abraham’s future is far from Chelsea it seems, and it’s now up to him to decide what’s best for his career.

Meanwhile, Roma’s General Manager, Tiago Pinto, has been pictured on his way to London to conduct talks with Chelsea executives over the possibility of signing Tammy Abraham.

Villarreal boss tells Thomas Tuchel what to expect in Super Cup clash today, but says Chelsea is ‘best team in the world’

Villarreal manager Unai Emery has revealed that his team, saying “we are going to try to be competitive” in tonight’s UEFA Super Cup final against Chelsea in Belfast.

Emery knows all about his opponents having worked in the Premier League with Arsenal for well over a year, and having lost to the Blues in the 2019 Europa League final.

But the serial Europa League winner admits Chelsea have grown a lot since he last came face-to-face with them, dubbing Thomas Tuchel’s men the ‘best in the world’.

The Villarreal boss said in his pre-match press conference: “If they are the champions of the Champions League then they are stronger than the Chelsea of 2019.

“It’s true that the Europa League has grown a lot. Its a good example. In two years they have made the jump.

“For me also, this situation is the challenge.

“We are going to play for a title and we are going to play against the best team in the world. We are excited about the challenge.

“We are very proud of Villarreal and to represent La Liga here.”

The Yellow Submarine are hoping to be competitive, and indeed hoping to upset the odds, as they did in the Europa League final against Manchester United.

“We are going to try to be competitive,” added Emery. “Chelsea have brought in international players. I hope for a great game that gets the attention of the whole world.

“They have the capacity to sign players like Lukaku. We have our pride of being here and we are more than motivated.

“The final against United is a good reference. Both teams have similar capacities. Tuchel has given them something more.”

Villarreal receive boost ahead of UEFA Super Cup clash with Chelsea

Villarreal have been handed a boost ahead of their UEFA Super Cup clash with Chelsea, according to reports in Spain.

The Yellow Submarine has been dealt blow after blow in pre-season. Friendlies had to be cancelled due to positive coronavirus tests, and a number of players have since been ruled out through injury.

Dani Parejo, Francis Coquelin and Samuel Chukwueze are all out of Villarreal’s first ever Super Cup, in Belfast.

But there is one boost, according to Football Espana, and that’s the return of Geronimo Rulli in goal.

Rulli was Villarreal’s cup goalkeeper last season with Sergio Asenjo playing La Liga matches.

And he was, of course, the hero of the Europa League final with Manchester United, saving David De Gea’s penalty to win Villarreal their first ever major trophy.

It looked as though Rulli would miss this one after contracting coronavirus recently, but Marca have confirmed the Argentine has tested negative and will be available for selection.

The question now is whether Unai Emery will call upon Rulli or whether he will stick with Sergio Asenjo having thought he would have little choice in the lead up to this game.

Lionel Messi reveals his mission at PSG, says “I don’t know when I can take to the pitch”

Lionel Messi said he’s convinced Paris Saint-Germain ‘is the right place’ to win his fifth Champions League title.

The Argentine’s farewell from Barcelona is the biggest transfer story of the summer and he was announced by Paris Saint-Germain yesterday.

PSG presented Lionel Messi as their new striker today and the Argentine looks forward to joining Kylian Mbappé and Neymar in the French capital.

“It will be great to live everyday life with this squad that have great players,” Messi said at a press conference.

“There have been many new signings and there were already very strong ones, now I look forward to start with them.

“I don’t know when, because I’m coming from vacation, even though I haven’t stopped training. I’ll talk to the technical staff, but I don’t know yet, I will certainly have to prepare.

“I don’t know when I can take to the pitch.”

The former Blaugrana striker won the Champions League four times during his time with Barcelona and aims to win another one in Paris.

“It’s not easy. In the end you can have the best team in the world, but you don’t win, because football is made up of details,” Messi added.

“Paris were very close to winning, they had very strong teams, but they never managed to win the trophy. I don’t know what could be missing, but we need to be a united group.

“I still don’t know the dressing room, but from the outside I can say that we need a little luck.”

Messi believes the PSG squad is ‘complete’ and said he has arrived to ‘help’ them achieve all their targets.

“There’s a complete team here, important signings have been made to win the Champions League,” Messi continued. “I’m here to help, to give my best and to be able to achieve the maximum.

“My goal is to win another Champions League and I’m convinced that I’m at the right place.”

Romelu Lukaku’s replacement at Inter Milan set to undergo medical on today

There are reports in Italy that Edin Dzeko will have his medical today ahead of his move to Inter Milan from Roma.

Jose Mourinho is reportedly eyeing Tammy Abraham to replace Dzeko, and he is said to have called the Chelsea striker.

The domino effect is already in motion after Romelu Lukaku had his medical with Chelsea ahead of the €115m transfer, which should also be announced today.

Sky Sport Italian reports the Bosnia-Herzegovina international is set to leave from Ciampino with a flight to Milan.

He will then carry out the required medical examinations before he signs a two-year contract with the Nerazzurri.

Dzeko’s contract should be worth around €5m a season and it reportedly won’t exclude a possible move for Atalanta forward Duvan Zapata too.

As he is in the final term of his Stadio Olimpico deal, it’s believed he will be allowed to leave for just under €2m.

As he is in the final term of his Stadio Olimpico deal, it’s believed he will be allowed to leave for just under €2m.

Meanwhile, Roma want Abraham as his replacement and are close to agreeing a fee with Chelsea, rumoured to be a loan with option to buy for €40m.

The problem is that Abraham doesn’t feel ready to leave London and would prefer to join Arsenal instead.

According to Sky Sport Italia, as cited by Football Italia, Mourinho is personally calling Abraham in a bid to convince him of the Giallorossi option.

The forward is taking a few days to think about it, giving an answer after Chelsea play the European Super Cup against Villarreal on Wednesday night.
